In case you didn't know, today is the last day of the 2017 Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I had originally planned to have at least 2 cards to post/participate with this week, but it just didn't happen, lol. While I only found the time to squeeze in just this one, please head over to the blog where there are hundreds of beautiful cards from other papercrafters to see!!!
Today's card was made using sketch #409 from Tuesday Morning Sketches as my inspiration and I chose the beach-y colors of deep ocean, seaweed and sand along with some silver accents.
My A2 sized card base is made from kraft card stock and folds at the side. The seaweed green cardstock has a white core, so after running it through with the Tim Holtz coffee themed embossing folder I sanded the top layer off to highlight the design. I stamped my repeat design in Memento London Fog gray ink on a strip of white paper and cut a deep ocean teal layer for behind both it and the seaweed embossed/distressed layer.
The 2 tiny coffee cup clear stamps are from a fabulous planner stamp set I found @ Hobby Lobby that is made by MAMBI as a part of their Happy Planner product line. The "I Love Coffe and You" sentiment comes from an awesome stamp set from Stamplorations that I just received from my May Gold Stamp Club order. (If you have not checked out Shery's website -you must! She has the best customer service and her stamp clubs are a wonderful value!) It came in a straight line, so I snipped it in half and bent it on my acrylic block before stamping to manipulate it to the shape I needed to fit on my diecut ovals. The small oval die set is from a Die of the Month kit from Spellbinder's.
To help the sentiment stand out, I stamped it in Versamark ink and heat embossed it in silver. The coffee cups I colored using my trusty watercolor pencils and a blender pen. (As you can see here, I started to color the cups with Spectrum Noir pens, but felt the color was just too intense. So I made sure to cover that boo-boo up with the placement of my sentiment later on) Once the panel was dry, I did color around the cups with a light gray Spectrum Noir marker.
The brushed silver ovals I ended up cutting by hand to accent the sentiment layers, so they are not perfectly symmetrical but they work just the same. I also used Peacock Feathers distress ink and an ink duster brush to add a tiny bit of color to accent the sentiment oval with a slight stippling effect. The final finishing touch was to add the 3 matte enamel dots and the 2 silver sequins according to the sketch...for a slightly different look, I turned the sequins up-side-down this time (meaning they look like a hub cap instead of a bowl -if that makes any sense, lol!!!) before adhering them...just thought it somehow looked less bling-y and more manly that way, lol.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to head on over to the Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop and comment or participate for your chance to win some awesome prizes from all the fabulous sponsors!
Until next time,
