Autumnal Feathers

Today's post is for my Design Team assignment using sketch #228 @ Atlantic Hearts and will also be entered @ Scrap and Craft for "Autumnal Colors", @ Hiding in My Craft Room for "Fall Colors" and @ Pile It On for "Feathers or Scales".

I started this card with a cream threaded A2 card base, 3 shades of colored cardstock and 4 colors of metallic embossing powders. Stamps came from FSJ, TAC and Hot Off The Press. The We R Memory Keepers wood grain embossing folder accents the background and comes to life after adding Camel chalk ink direct to paper on the top of the raised design.

The feather on the mustard color card stock was embossed in gold ink, the one on the dark orange  in rose gold and the one on the rusty red in copper...all were then fussy cut out. Just a tip -I made my own version of a rose gold embossing powder by mixing gold and copper until I got the effect I desired.

Using  a tan Spectrum Noir alcohol marker, I custom colored the medium sized twill tape/ribbon from SU!.

To make the foiled looking guilded strip, I used 1/4" double sided tape and adhered it to the bottom of a copper metallic strip. I laid the guilding flake pieces on top and burnished it down well with the scoochie sponge...putting the rest of the loose pieces back into the jar once it was completely covered.

Here is a close up of the foiled strip...love the way it turned out!

The sentiment was embossed in Platinum powder, most of the layers were adhered to the card front using my ATG tape runner and the feathers were adhered using mini glue dots. I also tied the feathers together using a bit of thin jute twine.

On the inside, I stamped the solid leaf in the same camel ink as I brushed over the embossed wood panel from the front and embossed the large sentiment in platinum powder. This card will be going out in the mail next month for one of my brother-in-laws for his October birthday.

Until next time~
