Flapper Twirl Girl

Today's design team project with Lemon Shortbread Digital Stamps uses the gorgeous Flapper Twirl Girl. I will also be entering her @ Southern Girls Challenge for " Tic Tac Toe" (using the middle horizontal row), @ Craftaholics R Us for "Turquoise", @ Unicorn Challenge for "Stitching Real or Faux", @ Pile it On for "Vintage/Retro" and @ Crafty Calendar for "Totally Girly".

I used a square punch to cut the patterned paper squares, die cut and layered the "amazing" and hand stamped the "you are". 

The faux stitching around the oval was done with a die cut and Distress ink was blended around the image to help with the vintage/retro look. 

I used Prismacolor pencils to color the Flapper Twirl Girl image in shades of turquoise and highlighted her jewelry with a sparkle gel pen.

The card base is a flecked and speckled ivory card stock cut to 5 x 7.

Sweet Treats

Today's design team project with Craftin' Desert Divas is a fun triple shaker card! I started by printing 3 of the icecream images from the Cool Treats digital stamp set and coloring them with colored pencils.

              

I die cut the smallest rectangle from the Crazy Stitched Frame Dies set 6 times -3 for the fronts and 3 for the backs of the shaker boxes. For the front pieces, I then cut out the centers to make frames and for the backs, I ink blended the polka dots in 3 different distress ink colors using the Sorted Shapes 2 stencil.

After building the shaker boxes, I filled them with microbeads in 3 co-ordinating colors. The "Sweet Treats" sentiment is from the Simply Said Clear Stamp Set but I'd like share a little tip here for stamping sentiments with Distress Ink...sometimes Distress Ink gets splotchy if you try to stamp sentiments with it, so if you first press your stamp on to a Versamark ink pad and then on to the distress ink pad it seems to help the ink cling to the stamp and gives better coverage that way.

Today's design team project with Lemon Shortbread uses the Reach for the Stars Fairy digital stamp from the Lemon Shortbread Etsy shop.

I will also be entering it at Classic Design Team Challenge, @ A Perfect Time to Craft, @ A Bit More Time to Craft, & Stamping Sensations -all for "Anything Goes" plus @ Dare 2B Artsy for "Bright Colors". 

I colored her up with pencils, cut her out and popped her up on a background of stars. I used a stencil and blended 3 distress ink colors to get the variegated look.

Go Ahead - Make a Splash!

Can you believe that it's May 1st already? And it's finally beginning to feel like spring where I live -thank goodness! Today's design team project was made using the "embossing resist technique" for the Mix It Up Challenge Blog. 

I took my embossing fluid ink pad directly to the paper through the stencil that I had taped down over my white A2 card base...after gently pulling the stencil up, I immediately sprinkled the clear embossing powder over top and then heat set it.

Over top of the clear embossing, I blended 3 different Distress Ink Colors then buffed off the clear so that the resist really popped! I colored the digital mermaid stamp using Sharpie and Bic alcohol based markers and cut it out using my Scan N Cut. Then I added the pale blue twine behind the image, splashed on some Sparkle Silk and used foam tape to pop her up. The wave strip is dry embossed and sanded, so this card has a nice variety of textures to it.

I Love You S'more!

Today's design project with Atlantic Hearts uses their newest sketch and stamps from 3 different sources.

The background was repeatedly stamped using the Love script stamp from a past Paper Pumpkin kit in brown Memento ink. The pink swirl was repeatedly stamped on kraft cardstock using Distress Oxide ink.

I didn't use any diecuts on this card -some fancy scissors, a notched corner punch and a paper piercer were used instead. 

The S'mores image and sentiment are a digital stamp and I colored it up using Chameleon colored pencils.

Happy St Patty's Day (a little late)

Today's design team project for Craftin' Desert Divas is a little late for the actual St Patty's Day holiday, but I just couldn't resist this "Rainbow's End" digi stamp set! I also used the sketch from Try Stampin' On Tuesday as my inspiration -I just turned it horizontally and made it a 5 x 7 card -along with using their theme of "Green".

I layered the rainbow behind the leprechaun before printing and colored him in with Chameleon colored pencils. I then die cut him out and layered him on green glitter paper. I splashed on some Sparkle Silk from FSJ and accented him with Emerald Isle Sequins. 

I blended the Lucky Clover Distress Ink behind the sentiment on the inside...this is the same ink I used on the plaid stencil pattern that I repeated across the front of the card. The hand cut banner from the gold glitter paper made the perfect final touch to complete the sketch image.

Mermaid Kisses

Today's card is a design team project for Atlantic Hearts for this week's sketch challenge. I will also be entering it @ Creatilicious Challenges for "Anything Goes w/ Optional Birthday", @ Card Mania Challenges for "Embossing", @ heARTful Stamping for "Anything Goes + a Stamp", and @ Dare 2B Artsy for "Your Favorite Colors". 

I had so much fun making this card and I think it was both because I used my favorite colors and got to take a new stamp set for a spin, lol. I've wanted this set from Stampin' Up since the first time I saw it! I got it in January and just now got around to using it!

So much fun stuff going on with this...not sure where to start! I used dry embossing and sanding on the blue background. Plus heat embossing to make my own background using clear ink so that it acted as a resist for my distress ink. I blended the two distress ink colors over the die cut seaweed panel and then splashed water on it to give it an underwater feel.

Inside I used a strip of the blue scrap paper from the front of the card, blended the extra ink under the sentiment and then added clear Wink of Stella over the stamped mermaid silhouette. 

I colored the mermaid using Prisma Watercolor Pencils and cut both her and the sentiment out using my Scan N' Cut machine...man, I really love that tool! I also covered the mermaid's tail and her headband with Wink of Stella for shimmer and shine.

March Moodboard: Foxy Cupcake Birthday Shaker

Today's design team project for Crafting' Desert Divas is my first creation for the new March Moodboard and I used the rainbow colors as my inspiration. #CDDMONTHLY

 I used the Craftin' Desert Divas Crazy Stitched Frames die set, the Birthday Surprise digital stamp set, the Say It Big clear stamp set, Worn Lipstick Distress Oxide ink pad, Shimmer sequins and Pastel Paradise sequins to make my card.

Versafine black ink is the perfect ink for sentiments -especially when stamping over patterned paper!

I colored the cupcake fox using watercolor pencils and cut it out using my Scan 'N Cut machine.
