How to Use the Best Glue Ever to Make a Cute Gingerbread Boy Spinner Card

This little cutie was a lot of fun to make and is my design team project for ScraPerfect today. Now that Christmas has come and gone, it's time to make thank you cards, right? I've been wanting to try a spinner card for a long time now and this digital stamp set from Power Poppy with the front and back sides of the gingerbread boy and girl was perfect for it!

I die cut the oval in both the white A2 card front and the red patterned paper.

I colored the ginger people up with my watercolor pencils and a blender pen then fussy cut them out.

I stamped the Thanks in red ink repeatedly inside the card so that it would show through the oval window and be seen behind the gingerbread boy.

Using clear fishing wire and the Best Glue Ever along with the No Clog Writing Cap, I sandwiched the wire between the front and the back of the gingerbread boy and then secured the top and bottom of the wire between the red patterned paper layer and the white card front. I just laid a large acrylic stamping block on the top to hold everything in place while I waited for the glue to dry.

To get him to spin when the card is opened up, just twist him around until the wire is taunt and then hold him down when closing the card. When the card is next opened, he will spin like crazy while the wire un-twists itself.

Inside, I glued the front of the gingerbread girl so that she was peeking out of the bottom right corner.

I then glued the back of the girl to the back of the card for extra fun! (Just match up the front to the back and then trim off the parts that hang-over)

Planning for a Tropical Get-Away

Hello friends~Kathy here with a little sneak peak and inspiration using a new and upcoming tropical themed clear stamp set from Itsy Bitsy for personalizing your planner/agenda/calendar. Where I live, decorating planners is very popular right now...so I thought I would give it a try...and guess what? I love doing it! Who knew that having a "to do" list could be so much fun, lol?!? Even though we are leaving summer behind here and heading into the cooler weather of the fall season, sometimes we all just need to dream of a relaxing tropical get-away, am I right?

For this project I started with 2 blank planer pages, the new stamp set you can see here, along with paper from the Happy Birthday paper pad, Black Chalk Ink, Green Pearl and Gold Pearl Pigment Inks, thin white card and some washi tapes.

I stamped the images out that I knew I wanted to use in the black and green inks on the thin card and applied the washi tape as borders directly to the pages.

By using the boxes on my planner pages as a guide to trace with permanent marker on a scrap sheet of acetate, I cut my own stencil using a craft knife and then used that stencil to keep my ink blending within the individual rectangles. I used Gold for the middle row and Green for the bottom row. The camera doesn't really capture the beautiful shimmer these inks have because of their Pearl quality, but they are gorgeous in person and blend oh so beautifully!!!

I fussy cut the tropical leaves that I stamped in the Green Pearl and adhered them along the top edge of the page, trimming off the overhang just like you would with a sticker.

I colored the rest of the images using Colored Pencils, but then decided that I needed one more image... so, using a large flat piece of blank red rubber as a mirror image stamp, I stamped and transferred the flamingo image so that is was reversed -that way I had one facing the right and one facing the left. Some of the fine detail gets lost when you do that, but I still like the way it turned out!

Using that same rectangle template from the ink blending step, I traced and cut the patterned paper into the perfect sized rectangle to fill the spaces between my ink blended blocks. Then I glued my stamped, colored and fussy cut out images on top.

I did some ink blending on the left panel, tore a tiny piece of tan paper to act as the sand under the palm tree and glued that on to help ground the image so it didn't look like it was floating. I also stamped and then colored the tiny hibiscus flowers directly on the page in the top squares as bullet points for my organizing my "to-do" list.

The two patterns I chose from the paper pack were perfect for matching with the inks.

And I think the pencil colors blended very nicely to achieve depth and dimension on the hand-made "stickers".

How to Make an Adorable Kitty Birthday Card Using The Best Glue Ever

Hello crafty friends! Today's card is a cute kitty on a 6" x 6" square top-folding white card base. The patterned papers, embossing folder, glitter and the stamp set that I used are all from the Itsy Bitsy shop. The first step after trimming all my paper layers was to run the floral layer through my Amaze machine with the Mums embossing folder -but only partially -meaning that the left side of the piece of paper hung outside of the folder and stayed smooth. I then lightly sanded the paper to remove the color off the very top and give it some definition.

Using the Best Glue Ever to adhere the embossed paper to the other card layers means that I know it will stay stuck and not pop off later...the dimension from the embossing proved to be a challenge for securing until I discovered how well the BGE works!

I also used the Best Glue Ever along with the No Clog Writing Cap to "color" in the white circles on the yellow patterned paper and then turned them a sparkly rose gold using glitter.

To color my images, I used Distress Inks as water colors...tapping the ink pad onto an acrylic block and picking up the color with a water brush. I just kept layering colors until I got the look I wanted. I then fussy cut out the party accessories and added them to the kitty using mini glue dots. The square kitty panel and the sentiment panel were adhered using mini foam dots for added height.

Here you can get an up close look at how using the sanding block in the first step really pops the embossed dimension up off the patterned paper. This works really well with white cored and white backed papers.

I also went back and added glitter to the pile of gifts once the water color on them was all dry.

Inside I used up some paper scraps and did some quick stamping and coloring. This card is now ready to be given to my niece for her 16th birthday coming up after this weekend.

Celebrating Fall and Coffee in my Planner #fall2017clh

As you can probably tell, today's post is a project other than a card...but first, I have to confess that I kinda fell off the Planner Wagon during the summer months when things got so busy! Partly because I had found out that the planner I was using and had grown to love was being discontinued...needless to say I was rather discouraged and I walked away from it for awhile. But I am happy to say that I've got my Planner Mojo back and moving forward I will be switching over from my current CTMH horizontal format to the vertical Classic/Meduim Happy Planner. I ordered my new one from Michael's this weekend when they were having a killer sale and it will be here Friday -WooHoo! So stay tuned as I make the switch and my goal is to post a new planner spread to share with you every Sunday from here on out, using a blend of creative stamping and stickers. (P.S. My hubby jokingly said on Monday -after seeing this spread- that "someone who has that much free time to devote to creating a fancy layout like this truly doesn't have enough going on in their life to even need a planner" -WHAT?!? I beg to differ, lol!)

 I decided on the fall coffee theme for this week because I love, love, love Pumpkin Spice Lattes and because we are right in the middle of the Fall 2017 Coffee Lover's Blog Hop! I will also be entering it @ Die Cutting Divas for "National Coffee Day" and @ Craftaholics for "Fall Colors". I have amassed quite a collection of coffee themed crafting items over the years, and some of my favorites come from STAMPlorations where Shery has a fabulous selection, great prices and even better customer service! (seriously -she is awesome and I'm not getting paid to say that, lol!) The stamps on the far right are from Fiskars and I got them at JoAnn Fabrics last summer.

The orange patterned papers are from my CTMH paper stash from a few years ago and the metallic brown cardstock is from a DCWV 12 x 12 stack that was also bought at JoAnn's. The white sticker paper comes in full letter size sheets and I got it from Amazon.

After I stamped the coffee bean border directly onto the inside page edges, everything else was done in black on the sticker paper and fussy cut/ and or die cut out. I colored the images with colored pencils and the shading on the page perimeters was done with 3 shades of distress ink. I just love the way that sets off the pages!

The FALL letters in gold were left over diecuts from this card and the COFFEE & "Weekend" dies are cut from the metallic brown. I turned them into stickers using my little Xyron  "X" sticker maker, but I used my ATG gun to adhere the rectangles that I diecut using a die set from FSJ. Then I peeled the backing off my custom stamped stickers and adhered them right on top.

The coffee stains were stamped using brown ink, the bottom of a small bowl like I showed on this card and a retired tea-stain stamp set from TAC.

Fall 2017 Coffee Lover's Blog Hop

Today's card is my second contribution to the Fall 2017 Coffee Lover's Blog Hop and my design team creation for Atlantic Hearts using sketch #230. I will also be entering it @ House of Cards for "Add Text" and @ Addicted -to -Stamps for "Stamp a Backround".

This card started with a white side folding A2 card base and a kraft cardstock layer trimmed just a bit off the sides. I then repeatedly stamped the COFFEE stamp from a retired set from FunStamper's Journey using 3 fall colors of chalk ink, going about 2/3rds of the way down from the top and stopping. I then glued a shimmery latte colored ribbon on and wrapped it around the back to hold it in place. The 3 mini antiqued copper brads were added using a tiny hole punch.

Using  a Versamark pad and brown embossing powder, I stamped and heat embossed the "to-go-cup" and the sentiment on small 2 pieces of white cardstock. The sentiment piece will be layered on 2 colors of cardstock while the cup will be fussy cut out.

And here's where I went a little rogue, lol...I turned a baby wipe into a stamp pad by spraying Walnut Ink onto it and then stamping the bottom of the blue silicone bowl in it to make the trio of coffee cup stains. I then also took the top off the ink bottle and tapped the spritzer tube to make the splatters, spritzed it with water to make it bleed a little and then dried it with my heat tool.

I used watercolors to color the "to-go-cup" and adhered it to the card front using foam tape once it was dry and fussy cut out.

The large kraft panel was mounted to the card front also using foam tape, everything else was glued down flat with my ATG gun. The last step was cutting the red and green banners and tucking them underneath the center layers.

On the inside, I stamped the sentiment from a STAMPlorations coffee themed stamp set in black, stamped the bottom of the bowl again with the walnut ink and the heart is from another love themed STAMPlorations stamp set. Hoping this card will put a smile on my hubby's face when he opens it while on one of his hectic weekly business trips...he loves his Starbucks Coffee!!!
