Hip-Hippo-Ray - AHSC #312

Hello and welcome to this week's edition of the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge! Today's card is sweet and simple and will be sent to one of my nieces for her 9th birthday at the end of the month.

While it may be hard to see from the top photo, I did add some dimension to the card front by using adhesive foam dots on both the back of the hippo circle and the sentiment banner.

This sweet little hippo is from a set I got from Itsy Bitsy when I was on their design team and I colored her up very simply using watercolor pencils in gray and pink. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but I also used a shimmer brush for the shadow under her feet.

The patterned papers are left over from a paper pack that my daughter left behind when she went to grad school several years ago...gotta use up that crafty stash, lol!

Holly Jolly Christmas

Today's design team project for the Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge follows along with the "Jolly" theme this month. 

Using patterned paper and watercolor paper, I pieced the front of the 6 x 6 card quilt style.

The main stamp set was one I got from The Angel Company many years ago. but the sentiment on the front came from an Amuse Studio set.

I diecut the water color panel, used my stamp positioning tool to get a good, dark, crisply stamped image then colored using watercolor pencils and a waterbrush.

Mermaid Kisses

Today's card is a design team project for Atlantic Hearts for this week's sketch challenge. I will also be entering it @ Creatilicious Challenges for "Anything Goes w/ Optional Birthday", @ Card Mania Challenges for "Embossing", @ heARTful Stamping for "Anything Goes + a Stamp", and @ Dare 2B Artsy for "Your Favorite Colors". 

I had so much fun making this card and I think it was both because I used my favorite colors and got to take a new stamp set for a spin, lol. I've wanted this set from Stampin' Up since the first time I saw it! I got it in January and just now got around to using it!

So much fun stuff going on with this...not sure where to start! I used dry embossing and sanding on the blue background. Plus heat embossing to make my own background using clear ink so that it acted as a resist for my distress ink. I blended the two distress ink colors over the die cut seaweed panel and then splashed water on it to give it an underwater feel.

Inside I used a strip of the blue scrap paper from the front of the card, blended the extra ink under the sentiment and then added clear Wink of Stella over the stamped mermaid silhouette. 

I colored the mermaid using Prisma Watercolor Pencils and cut both her and the sentiment out using my Scan N' Cut machine...man, I really love that tool! I also covered the mermaid's tail and her headband with Wink of Stella for shimmer and shine.

Happy Birthday Honey

We are celebrating my hubby's birthday today, so I decided to do it Craftin' Desert Divas style, lol. This Birthday Surprise digi stamp set has so many cute images and I especially love the cake with the number candles because it gives you the chance to personalize your card.

The inside sentiment came from an old retired red rubber stamp set from TAC.

All the images were colored with watercolor pencils and  the sentiment is from the Birthday Sentiments digi stamp set. The sequins are from the Shimmer Sequins pack

.

Cozy Christmas Cocoa

Today's card is my monthly Christmas card for the February Happy Little Stampers Christmas Challenge where the theme is "Hearts"and it has quite a bit of texture to it...from the dry embossed heart background to the glitter papers, ribbon and the layered diecuts!

I colored the digi stamp image from Craftin' Desert Divas using my watercolor pencils and cut it out using my Scan N Cut machine.

 The inside sentiment is from Hampton Arts and was stamped in a deep red dye ink.

The embossing folder came from Fun Stampers Journey and the pine and holly diecuts are from Spellbinders. Adding the white satin edged ribbon was the perfect final accent for this sweet A2 card.

How To Make A Cute Dragon Card With The Best Glue Ever

Today's design team post with ScraPerfect uses the Best Glue Ever to adhere together the components for this super cute card that was inspired by the sketch over @ My Favorite Things.

I started by using the small Net stencil from Itsy Bitsy with 2 shades of green Distress ink to mimic pattern paper on the left side of the card.

I stamped the dragon and star stamps from Itsy Bitsy in Archival black ink so that I could color him up with my watercolor pencils and a blender pen, then masked him off and stenciled some clouds around him using blue Distress ink.

The Best Glue Ever with the No Clog Writing Cap on top made an easy job of adding just the right amount of adhesive to my layers of card stock for quick assembly of the card.

I used gold Wink of Stella to color the stars and added some glitter to his wings using a Stardust gel pen. 

Inside I stamped the love sentiments from CAS-ual Fridays in black ink.

The front sentiment was popped up with mini foam dots for added dimension.

How to Use the Best Glue Ever to Make a Cute Gingerbread Boy Spinner Card

This little cutie was a lot of fun to make and is my design team project for ScraPerfect today. Now that Christmas has come and gone, it's time to make thank you cards, right? I've been wanting to try a spinner card for a long time now and this digital stamp set from Power Poppy with the front and back sides of the gingerbread boy and girl was perfect for it!

I die cut the oval in both the white A2 card front and the red patterned paper.

I colored the ginger people up with my watercolor pencils and a blender pen then fussy cut them out.

I stamped the Thanks in red ink repeatedly inside the card so that it would show through the oval window and be seen behind the gingerbread boy.

Using clear fishing wire and the Best Glue Ever along with the No Clog Writing Cap, I sandwiched the wire between the front and the back of the gingerbread boy and then secured the top and bottom of the wire between the red patterned paper layer and the white card front. I just laid a large acrylic stamping block on the top to hold everything in place while I waited for the glue to dry.

To get him to spin when the card is opened up, just twist him around until the wire is taunt and then hold him down when closing the card. When the card is next opened, he will spin like crazy while the wire un-twists itself.

Inside, I glued the front of the gingerbread girl so that she was peeking out of the bottom right corner.

I then glued the back of the girl to the back of the card for extra fun! (Just match up the front to the back and then trim off the parts that hang-over)
